Assembling urban worlds: always-becoming urban in and through Bir al-Saba’

Abstract The ordinary city of Bir al-Saba’, situated within an urban world stretched across southern Palestine, has a story to tell, dramatic spatiotemporal transformations, presence and absence, capture resilience. Such connected history is profoundly shaped through the world-making relations those who lived dwelt always-becoming material ideational spatial geography Naqab. Research gathered from diverse archival sources interview data offers insight into voices, actions imaginaries Saba'awi as they worked shifting assemblages this landscape between 1840 1936, making al-Saba’ thick multiscalar cosmopolitan place meaning opportunity.
